The West Bengal Police launched a probe into the alleged suicide of the leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s bodyguard Subhabrata Chakraborty in 2018.The police has included murder charges as the case has been registered under sections 302 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, following a fresh first information report (FIR) filed by Chakraborty's wife, Suparna, who claimed that her husband did not die of suicide. It was claimed at that time that Chakraborty had committed suicide inside police barracks. “I had doubts about my husband’s death, especially when I was told that he had shot himself despite being the security personnel of Suvendu Adhikari. He was shifted to a Kolkata hospital after a long time,” Suparna Chakraborty said about her late husband.
