Prince Rahim Aga Khan V meets PM Modi to discuss India-AKDN partnership in development

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra and held discussions on India’s partnership with Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in agriculture, rural development and other areas.

Khan arrived in India at the invitation of Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan for a visit scheduled from September 9 to 15.

"Happy to meet His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. Fondly recalled his father, the late Aga Khan IV and his enduring contributions to development efforts. Discussed ways to further strengthen our partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network in healthcare, agriculture, rural development, youth and women empowerment," Modi said in a post on X.


Aga Khan also met the Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan at Uprashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, and discussed AKDN’s contributions to water and sanitation, women-led self-help Groups, education and community development, and appreciated its initiatives in East Africa and Afghanistan.

The two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation between India and the AKDN in sectors such as sports and education as well as stressing on the need to end radicalisation.
