Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stay at Kaziranga National Park during his two-day visit to Assam

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will stay at the Kaziranga National Park during his two-day visit to Assam.

Modi will take to jungle safari during the visit. Modi is set to arrive at Kaziranga on the evening of March 8. On March 9 he is scheduled to embark on a safari within the park before departing for Jorhat to participate in a series of scheduled events.

Assam Forest and Environment Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary visited the Kaziranga National Park on Tuesday and held a series of meetings with senior officials, including Chief Secretary Paban Borthakur and Director General of Police G P Singh, to finalise arrangements for the prime minister's visit. The authorities have made arrangements for both jeep and elephant safaris inside the park, the official said.


On March 9, he is scheduled to unveil a bronze statue of the legendary Ahom general, Lachit Barphukan, in Jorhat. Modi will address a public meeting at Meleng Meteli Pothar in Jorhat.

Lachit is known for his legendary leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat where Mughals were defeated.

Modi on early February visited Assam for two days.
