PM Narendra Modi urges Indians to buy local products during the festive season to support the economy and MSME sector.
In his 139th address, the PM said that the programme that began on Dussehra 12 years ago is an auspicious thing for him. "Our country has a long-standing tradition of teerth yatra. 'Mann Ki Baat' is, for me, nothing less than a pilgrimage - a journey to closely understand the efforts of our people and to salute their contributions," he said.
The prime minister once again stressed the need to buy Made in India products to help Indian artisans and manufacturers.
"During the festive season, we often buy many things for our families and loved ones. This time too, prioritise products made by local artisans when you shop; your purchases will boost their morale. This sense of affection will further strengthen the 'Vocal for Local' movement. As this movement gains momentum, the dream of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' will be realised all the faster. For that, I personally urge you to prioritise and highlight products crafted by local artisans," he said.
The PM also emphasised cleanliness during festivals, not just on Diwali but also Chhath, during which prayers are performed near water bodies.
