"We will not allow any infiltrations through the international border. BSF is professionally stopping them as per policies of the central government, we are keeping a vigil on the international border with modern cameras and technology solutions," Sharma added.
Talking about the intensified vigil along the international border, Sharma, who was speaking to media on BSF's 60th Raising Day at Siliguri Frontier, said that the border security has been beefed up and additional jawans have also been deployed, adding, "We are maintaining immense security measures on the international border. Since last August, there has been pressure from the minority community at the international border near India. We have resolved those issues through discussion and coordination with the Border Guard of Bangladesh."
"We are trying to complete the fencing in the unfenced areas. Only 10% fencing needs to be completed in this area under the North Bengal Frontier which remains unfenced. We are receiving cooperation from the state government for acquiring land and will soon complete the fencing as per central government's instructions," Sharma said.
Certain areas in Phansidewa and Fulbari areas were unfenced and have been temporarily plugged. In North Bengal's eight districts, around 1,937 kilometres of Indo-Bangladesh border is under the vigil of BSF. "We are using thermal cameras, night vision cameras, drones and CCTV cameras for enhanced vigil," the IG said, adding biometric machines have been installed at the entry points, bordering the locations.
