President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the year-long celebrations of the 400 th birth anniversary of great Ahom general Lachit Barphukan

Kovind will come for three day visit of Assam from February 25.

Sarma said, " President will inaugurate the year-long celebrations at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.


He said in another event of birth anniversary in new Delhi, government will invite Prime Minister.
In event in Mumbai defence minister Rajnath Singh would be invited. In the Ahmedabad event, home minister Amit Shah will be invited.

Sarma said that cabinet has approved two flood control projects at Burhidihing and Beki rivers."In the two flood control projects and related works, 125 million US dollar (around Rs 800 crore) would be invested."

He said the Skill university in Mangaldoi will be constructed with financial assistance of ADB and the cabinet approved Rs 1,016 crore.
