The President's address emphasized that the country's young population, comprising 65% of the demographic below the age of 35, remains its 'most valuable asset' emphasising that the youth are 'talented, committed, and skilled'.
Her address comes against the backdrop of recent student agitations over public examinations.
President Murmu said just as the government and society must stay united to ensure national security, everyone must contribute through joint efforts to 'safeguard the present and future of students'.
Highlighting that public examinations serve as "gateways to the opportunities for our students," President Murmu detailed comprehensive steps are being undertaken by the government to overhaul the examination ecosystem.
She reassured the youth that the overarching objectives of these reforms are "to completely curb the use of unfair means in public examinations, make the system more transparent, more secure, and more trustworthy for the youth."
Alongside, the President also noted the significance of the song 'Vande Matram' in the freedom struggle, pointing out how during the Swadeshi Movement, Vande Mataram became a 'song of the masses'.
The Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which grants Vande Mataram equal statutory protection as the National Anthem was passed by the Parliament in the just concluded monsoon session.
President Murmu also praised the Armed Forces for precision strikes during Operation Sindoor, noting it sent a firm message to terrorists and those who support them, 'that no matter where they hide, they will have to face the consequences of their actions'.
She also termed the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty 'with the country that harbours terrorism'- a 'decisive step in the interest of our nation, especially the farmers'.
President Murmu further drew attention to how despite global warfare and instability, India's economy remains the fastest-growing.
