Siddique's political career began in 1977 when he joined the Congress party, starting with the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and later moving to the Youth Congress. He was elected as a municipal councillor in Mumbai in 1992. In 1999, he became the MLA for the Bandra West constituency and was re-elected in 2004 and 2009. Throughout his career, he held several ministerial positions in the Maharashtra government.
