Police arrest two in Udupi's road rage incident, video goes viral

Karnataka Police have arrested two individuals, Ashiq and Rakib, in connection with a recent road rage incident reported at the Udupi Town Police Station.

The incident involved two factions from the same gang, known as the Garuda Gang, clashing in a violent altercation that went viral on social media. Udupi SP Dr. Arun K stated that a case was filed on May 20, and about five other suspects remain at large, reported TOI.



The police have seized two cars, two bikes, a talwar, and a dagger in relation to the incident. Dr. Arun K mentioned that the FIR was based on available information, with additional sections to be added based on the viral video.

Preliminary investigations suggest the gang is not currently active, with infighting over perceived jealousy contributing to the clash. The exact cause of the confrontation is still under investigation, as per the TOI report.

CCTV footage from near Sharada Kalyana Mantap road showed a chaotic scene: a white car reversing and colliding with a brown car, with its doors open. Youths wielding a talwar were involved in the altercation. The white car struck a man carrying a talwar, causing him to collapse before both vehicles continued moving. Two youths were then seen assaulting the fallen individual.

Separately, a 19-year-old from Barkur in Brahmavar filed a complaint alleging that between May 13 and May 17, Dhanush gave him a car to sell. An acquaintance, Mahammed Fazil, took the car for a test drive and allegedly handed it to Isak and others, who damaged it, causing a loss of Rs 2 lakh. They are also accused of allegedly placing a talwar in the vehicle with the intent of committing robbery.
