Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) earlier in the day and is also set to preside over a full Cabinet meeting and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), reviewing measures taken by ministries and departments across sectors.

The deliberations come against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which the government has been closely monitoring for potential economic and supply chain disruptions.
At a special CCS meeting earlier this month, officials briefed the prime minister on steps taken to ensure the availability of key essentials, including petroleum products such as LNG and LPG, as well as adequate power supply.
The government has assessed the availability of critical needs for citizens, including food, fuel and fertilisers, with a particular focus on ensuring sufficient stocks for the upcoming Kharif and Rabi seasons. Measures to secure alternative sources of fertilisers have also been discussed.

Officials said coal stocks at power plants remain adequate, helping ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, while contingency plans across short-, medium- and long-term horizons have been drawn up to manage potential disruptions.
The prime minister’s address later in the evening is expected to outline the government’s assessment of the evolving situation and the steps being taken to safeguard economic stability and essential supplies.
