Modi advised Bommai to take care of his health with proper medication in a brief telephonic chat. The call came when the chief minister was in the middle of a virtual meeting to review the Covid-19 situation. The chief minister told the PM that two more of his family members had also been infected.
Bommai briefed the PM about the latest Covid situation in Karnataka, and said the review meeting he was holding was a precursor to the PM's review scheduled for January 13. The CM assured the PM that the government has taken necessary steps to contain the infection spread.
CURBS TILL MONTH END
The high-level meeting, chaired by the chief minister, decided to extend the Covid-19 related restrictions in Karnataka till January end. The government has announced a night as well as weekend curfew to combat the infection.
The government also decided to open 27 Covid care centres in Bengaluru to admit infected persons in the event of a sudden surge. The chief minister directed health authorities to increase Covid-19 testing in the BBMP area in Bengaluru to 1.3 lakh a day.
