PM Modi extends Statehood greetings to Manipur Governor, CMs of Tripura and Meghalaya
Guwahati: As Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur marked their Statehood Day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote to the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Tripura and to the Governor of Manipur, highlighting development gains and the Centre's support for the Northeast.

In his letter to Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Modi recalled his 2025 visit, flagged recent infrastructure projects and sports investments, and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to peace and growth in the state, which is currently under President's Rule.

Writing to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Modi praised the state's cultural diversity, women-led traditions and role in hosting key G20 events, while underlining the Northeast's renewed development push since 2014.

In his message to Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, the Prime Minister said the state had chosen peace and progress, citing the 2024 peace accord with insurgent groups and the impact of the Centre-state "double-engine" governance model.
