During the visit, the Prime Minister will travel from Tavarekere to the IIMB–Bilekahalli station to formally flag off commercial operations, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya stated in a post on X.
The opening will take Namma Metro’s total operational network to 103.6 km, crossing the 100-km threshold and establishing Bengaluru as India’s second-largest metro network after Delhi, he added.
The upcoming section is part of the 21.25-km Pink Line linking Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere) in the south to Nagawara on the Outer Ring Road.
“We will build on this momentum and work towards our target of expanding the Metro network to 170 km by 2027,” Gowda said.
Highlighting the network's expansion, Surya noted that the operational line has grown nearly fifteenfold from just 7 km in 2014, adding over 96 km in the past decade. He credited the Centre's infrastructure push for accelerating urban mobility projects aimed at decongesting the city.
The announcement follows a joint trial run conducted in September by Gowda, Surya, Bengaluru South MLA M Krishnappa, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director PC Jaffer, and other senior officials.
