Lucknow, The Ganga Expressway project, set to bring a major transformation in Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure landscape, has now reached its final stage, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate it on April 29.

With an estimated cost of around Rs 37,000 crore, the mega project was divided into four major packages (groups) to ensure rapid progress.

This "multi-package" model proved to be the project's biggest strength, playing a crucial role in delivering such a massive project within the stipulated timeline, the UP government said in a statement on Saturday.

The Ganga Expressway project, which stretches approximately 594 kilometres, was implemented by dividing it into four major packages, each handled by different agencies. This approach allowed key developers and EPC contractors to work simultaneously, significantly accelerating construction.

The first package spans 129.70 km, with a cost exceeding Rs 9,000 crore. The second package covers 151.70 km, costing approximately Rs 9,000 crore. The third package is 155.70 km long, with a similar cost of around Rs 9,000 crore. The fourth and longest package stretches 156.847 km, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 9,500 crore.

The entire project has been monitored by UPEIDA, which maintains a strict oversight at all stages, including design, construction, and quality control. Regular reviews, technical coordination, and ground-level monitoring ensured that work in each package progressed in line with the set timelines.

The Ganga Expressway, which is among the largest infrastructure projects in the country, is not just a transportation facility but is being developed as a dedicated economic corridor.

Integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters linked to the expressway are expected to give a significant boost to industrial development in the state.

By connecting western Uttar Pradesh with its eastern regions, the expressway will substantially reduce travel time. It will also lower logistics costs, improve connectivity for industries, and create new investment opportunities.

This project is set to play a key role in establishing Uttar Pradesh as a strong industrial and logistics hub at the national level, the statement said.
