PM Modi speaks with Giorgia Meloni as Italy invites PM for G7 summit in June

PM Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and discussed taking forward G20 agenda outcomes at the G7 summit being hosted by Italy in June. Modi was invited to the Summit by Meloni as was reported by ET last week.

“Spoke with PM @GiorgiaMeloni and extended greetings as Italy celebrates its Liberation day today. Thanked her for the invite to the G7 Summit in June. Discussed taking forward #G20India outcomes at the G7. Reaffirmed commitment to deepening our Strategic Partnership,” Modi wrote on X following the telephone conversation.

Both leaders share a good chemistry.


ET had reported last week that the current G7 chair Italy has decided to invite India as a guest nation for the group’s summit from June 13 to 15, “The engagement with Africa will be a key priority. We will work to build a cooperation model based on mutually beneficial partnerships, away from paternalistic or predatory logics. Particular attention will also be paid to the Indo-Pacific region,” Meloni has earlier said about her country’s G7 priorities.
