PM Modi likely to be present at the one lakh Bhagwat Gita recitation in Kolkata on December 24

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be present at the one lakh Bhagwat Gita recitation next week on December 24 in Kolkata. The organizers of the programme, 'Ek Lakh Gita Path', in which one lakh people are scheduled to chant the Bhagavad Gita on December 24, said that Modi is likely to address the event and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also been invited.

“Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is revered for having cast an overwhelming impact on the renaissance and subsequent freedom struggle of Bharat. Annotations on this scripture were penned by several venerable personalities like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Maharaj Swami Pradiptananda, President of the organizing Committee said.

“While witnessing this historic event, Kolkata will also have the gracious presence of the revered Prime Minister,” the organizers said.


“On December 24, 2023, at Brigade Parade Ground one lakh men and women will chant together the first, second, twelfth, and fifteenth Adhyayas (chapters) of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita,” the organizers said.

The organizers claimed that “this event would set a world record, earning a place in the Guinness Book, Not only that, but an orchestra of 50 thousand Shankyadhwani, will add to the grace and grandeur of the hallowed event, creating an additional world record.”

Srimant Nirgunanada Brahmachari, Vice-President of the organising committee of the programme, said they have already sent a written invitation to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and would invite her again if protocol was an issue.
