Highlighting India’s evolving employment landscape, Modi said a strong culture of entrepreneurship and self-employment has emerged in recent years. “India is the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, with over 2,30,000 recognised startups. This change is not limited to big cities; youth from tier-2 and tier-3 cities are also showing their strength. The role of women in this transformation is also continuously increasing,” he said.
He also underlined the importance of infrastructure in driving growth and job creation. “Infrastructure plays a huge role in India’s growth story. When villages, small towns, and remote areas are connected to development, the benefits of progress reach more people. In the last 12 years, railways, highways, airports, logistics, ports, and digital infrastructure have expanded at an unprecedented pace,” the Prime Minister said.
Highlighting India’s emergence as a trusted global supply chain hub, Modi cited examples of international collaborations in advanced technology sectors. “The semiconductor company ASML in the Netherlands has an agreement with Tata—this is rare and will create countless employment opportunities and open doors to next-generation technology,” he said. He further pointed to India’s growing partnerships in artificial intelligence and advanced computing, including collaborations with Sweden and the UAE in supercomputing, saying these will significantly enhance India’s technological capabilities and create new opportunities for the youth.
He added that India’s development journey is aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, noting that a complete semiconductor ecosystem is being built in the country, with multiple major units expected to place India on the global semiconductor map in the coming years.
He also highlighted infrastructure expansion in sectors such as shipbuilding and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). “An investment of approximately Rs 75,000 crore is being made. This will greatly help the aviation sector and open up a new sector of employment for India’s youth,” he said.
Rozgar Melas primarily target youth aged 18 to 35, including candidates with qualifications ranging from 8th pass to graduates, ITI, diploma holders, and those certified under the National Skills Qualifications Framework. Job seekers are mobilised through print advertisements, SMS campaigns, social media outreach, and academic workshops across districts.
