Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lauded Indian scientists for coming up with world's first DNA-based Covid vaccine ZyCoV-D.

The Prime Minister tweeted saying that India is resolutely fighting the Covid battle and the approval of the world's first DNA-based vaccine is a testimony to that.

India's drug regulator has given emergency approval to India's indigenously made and world's first DNA-based Covid vaccine ZyCoV-D.




The vaccine can be administered to those 12 years and above.

An expert panel of India's central drug authority has recommended granting emergency use authorisation to Zydus Cadila's three-dose COVID-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on COVID-19 of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) deliberated on the application given by Zydus Cadila on Thursday and recommended granting emergency use authorisation to its three-dose coronavirus vaccine.
