New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met the newly-appointed PM of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman and handed over a letter by Prime Minister Narendra Modi inviting the BNP leader to India.

Modi's letter extended an invitation to Rahman, his wife Dr Zubaida and his daughter Zaima to visit India at a "mutually convenient time". "A warm welcome awaits you in India," the PM said in the congratulatory letter. Modi expressed confidence that Rahman's leadership would guide the country on a path of peace, stability and prosperity.
