PM Modi hails Trump's Gaza peace efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised US President Donald Trump's peace efforts in Gaza, describing the indication of a possible release of hostages as a "significant step forward." Modi's remarks came after Trump ordered Israel to halt bombing in the Gaza Strip, following Hamas' partial acceptance of the US President's peace plan.

As part of the plan, Hamas agreed to release all Israeli hostages and the bodies of the deceased, and to enter negotiations aimed at ending the conflict. The group also agreed to hand over administration of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian technocrats.

" Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace," Modi posted on X.
