PM Modi gets wishes from world leaders on becoming India's longest-serving elected prime minister

In a letter dated June 8, Sri Lankan president Anura Kumara Disanayaka conveyed the warm congratulations of the government and people of Sri Lanka to PM Modi, stating, “This milestone is a testament not only to your years in office, but also to the trust and confidence that the people of the world’s largest democracy have repeatedly placed in your leadership.”
Disanayaka also highlighted India’s remarkable economic and social transformation and noted that Modi’s vision has inspired many beyond India’s borders, including Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea PM James Marape, in a personal video message, described Modi as “a role model and an example of leadership”.
He further stated, “Lifting over 200 million people out of poverty to good life today is an amazing feat.” Marape expressed Papua New Guinea’s warm friendship and its desire to further consolidate bilateral ties.
Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago also congratulated PM Modi on the occassion, noting that “under his leadership, India has evolved as a leading voice on global matters.”
She highlighted Modi’s journey from humble beginnings to leading a nation of 1.4 billion people across three terms, and underscored India’s significant achievements in foreign policy, economic growth, infrastructure, and socio-economic development.
Modi to attend G7 summit
PM Modi is set to attend next week's G7 Summit in France, as well as a technology conference in Paris.The foreign ministry on Tuesday announced that Modi's attendance at the G7 Summit is part of a two-nation trip to France and Slovakia, starting Saturday. He will also meet French President Emmanuel Macron.
He will then head to Slovakia on Sunday, where he will meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico, the first visit by an Indian leader since its independence in 1993.
PM Modi will then return to France to attend the G7 summit in the Alpine lakeside resort of Evian on June 16-17.
The Group of Seven countries include Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.
The foreign ministry said the prime minister is expected to meet with "several world leaders" on the sidelines, without giving further details.
After the G7 summit, PM Modi will visit Paris, the foreign ministry said, to attend the VivaTech Summit, Europe's largest technology and startup event.
Modi's visit will "spotlight India as a global hub for innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship", the ministry added, saying the trip would support "new partnerships" with Europe.
