PM Modi extends Easter greetings; calls for hope and harmony

PM Modi on Sunday extended Easter greetings, wishing everyone a "blessed" and "joyous" celebration.

The prime minister noted the global observance of the Jubilee Year and shared a message of peace, compassion, and renewal.

“"Wishing everyone a blessed and joyous Easter. This Easter is special because world over, the Jubilee Year is being observed with immense fervour,” he said in a post on X.


“May this sacred occasion inspire hope, renewal and compassion in every person. May there be joy and harmony all around,” he added.


Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion, is being celebrated across the country with church gatherings and prayers.

The day marks the culmination of Holy Week, which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday.

While Easter traditions vary across cultures, the essence of the day remains rooted in themes of faith, rebirth, and joy. In India, local customs such as festive meals with Appams and Vattayappams add a regional flavor to the global celebration.
