Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with heads of Indian missions from across the world at the 10th Heads of Missions (HoMs) Conference in Kevadia, Gujarat, and laid out his vision for India’s foreign policy at a tumultuous time.

“PM laid out the vision for India’s foreign policy, providing guidance, and setting the tone for the three-day conference,” external affairs ministry (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

Around 23 sessions will be held at the conference comprising detailed internal discussions on issues such as contemporary geopolitics and geo-economic environment, connectivity, and India’s foreign policy priorities.

The over 100 Indian mission heads had divided themselves into groups depending on their home state and visited their state this week. They also went to ‘aspirational districts’ in their home state for a ground status check of the situation.

These districts were identified as backward some years ago by official think tank Niti Aayog and specific interventions were undertaken to uplift them. This included the Aspirational Districts programme, One District One Product, Amrit Sarovar Mission, and Jal Jeevan Mission, among others.

The HoMs met the chief ministers of their home states for learning more about these programmes and familiarise themselves with the development schemes so that they can help those abroad understand them and also give their suggestions to the CMs.
