New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and without directly naming Israel expressed deep concern over the attacks in Doha and condemned the violation of the sovereignty of Qatar.

The Prime Minister appreciated the role being played by Qatar in promoting regional peace and stability, including its mediation efforts in Gaza to achieve ceasefire and release of all hostages.







Modi reiterated support for resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy and the need to avoid escalation, according to the MEA readout. He highlighted that India stands firmly in support of peace and stability in the region, and against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, according to the readout from MEA.

The Qatar Amir thanked PM Modi for the expression of solidarity with the people and the state of Qatar.

On Tuesday, the MEA stated that it has seen reports about the Israeli strikes in Doha and noted that it was deeply concerned by this development and its impact on the security situation in the region.
