Modi also announced special financial assistance to the two states. The Centre will provide ₹1,500 crore to Himachal Pradesh and ₹1,600 crore to Punjab as flood-relief.
Modi also announced advance release of the second instalment of State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in both the states. He also announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh to the families of those killed and ₹50,000 to those seriously injured in the floods and natural calamity in both the states.
The government has also chalked out a detailed plan to help those who have lost their houses, for farmers and other working people in both rural and urban setups through the existing central government schemes. The damaged houses will be geotagged to clearly estimate the extent of damage and help will be provided from the PM Awas scheme.
The government has also sent an inter-ministerial central team to Himachal Pradesh. Based on its report, the Centre will provide further assistance. A similar team will visit the affected areas in Punjab to access the damage.
On Tuesday, Modi first conducted an aerial survey of flood affected areas of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, and held an official meetings to review the relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken by state governments. Modi also met families who were affected by the calamity.
