Opposition leader in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy met the Governor and submitted a letter seeking cancellation of the plot allotment and action against IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
Industries Minister MB Patil has defended the government action in allotting the civic amenity plot to the Kharge’s family trust at the aerospace park, near the International Airport in Bengaluru, brushing aside the BJP’s objections.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Lahar Singh Siroya had first raised the issue wondering if members of the Kharge family were aerospace entrepreneurs to claim a plot from the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) in the aerospace park.
Patil, the industries minister, said in a statement that Kharge Sr’s son, Rahul Kharge, was an IIT graduate who was keen to set up an R&D centre at the site. The KIADB had followed the norms while allotting the plot to the Trust, he added.
