Piyush Goyal urges BRICS to link payment systems, open markets & trade in local currencies

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called on BRICS countries to deepen economic cooperation by opening markets, simplifying regulations, linking payment systems and promoting trade in local currencies. Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi, Goyal said the grouping has major potential to strengthen trade, investment and resilient supply chains. He also highlighted India's UPI network, which is now accepted in 11 countries, and called for greater cooperation in agriculture, technology, startups and emerging sectors.
