India's trade minister said on Friday he had met the U.S. trade chief and discussed the ‌next steps ⁠in ⁠the bilateral trade agreement between the two nations, the first in-person official talks over the fate of their ⁠trade deal.

India will ‌hold off on signing a ⁠trade deal with the United States for several months, Reuters reported earlier this month.

India's Trade Minister Piyush Goyal and U.S. ‌trade representative Jamieson Greer met on the sidelines of the ⁠WTO Ministerial Conference in Cameroon, Goyal said in a post on social media platform X.
