In an audacious move that defied all odds, a bootlegger hailing from Mehsana in Ahmedabad, Gujarat found himself in a tight spot after his ambitious attempt to transport a whopping 114 litres of country liquor on his scooter was caught by Police. Picture this – a staggering 57 two-litre pouches of the liquor crammed onto a two-wheeler! The result? His conspicuous appearance on the road raised eyebrows and led to his apprehension by the vigilant Detroj police from Ahmedabad district.

As per a TOI report, in the early hours of Sunday, Bhavesh Thakor, a 34-year-old resident of Balasar village in Kadi taluka, Mehsana district, was intercepted near Jivapura Patiya by a patrolling police team from Detroj. What started as a routine night patrol took an unexpected turn when Thakor's scooter, weighed down by three conspicuously bulging plastic sacks, triggered suspicion.

The subsequent search of Thakor's scooter uncovered the hidden stash – a total of 57 two-litre pouches of country liquor, adding up to a staggering 114 litres. The estimated value of the confiscated alcohol stands at Rs 2,280, according to the police.

Vanrajsinh Balwantsinh, a police constable from Detroj police, told TOI: "Thakor's attempt at ferrying the booze was thwarted when a police team, conducting a routine night patrol, found him a little suspicious."

Thakor now faces charges under the stringent prohibition laws that govern the possession, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages within the state. It's clear that he had taken a bold risk, presuming that the cover of night would shield him from any police scrutiny. Unfortunately for him, his gamble didn't pay off – not only did he attract the attention of the law enforcement, but his scooter was also confiscated.
