PIA privatised: Pakistan sells 75% stake for 135 bn, ending decades of loss-making state control

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is privatised as the Arif Habib Corporation-led consortium secures a 75% stake in a live-televised auction. The move ends the long-delayed privatization process and aims to inject fresh capital into the struggling national carrier. The new owner is expected to take operational control by April 2026
