Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Tuesday took to social media and apologised for his comments on the Brahmin community over a row on his film 'Puhle'.

"In anger, while replying to someone, I forgot my limits. And I spoke badly about the entire Brahmin community. That community whose many people have been in my life, are still there and contribute a lot. Today, all of them are hurt by me. My family is hurt by me. Many intellectuals, whom I respect, are hurt by my anger and my way of speaking," Kashyap wrote.

The Gangs of Wasseypur director said he would use the right words if he talks about the topic further, and assured that would not use indecent language.

"By saying such a thing, I myself deviated from the topic. I apologise from the bottom of my heart to this community to whom I did not want to say this, but in anger, I wrote it while replying to someone's cheap comment. I apologise to all my colleagues, my family and that community for my way of speaking, for my indecent language. Now, I will work on not letting this happen again. I will work on my anger. And if I have to talk about the issue, I will use the right words.
I hope you will forgive me," Kashyap added.

The apology comes two days an FIR was registered at Jaipur's Bajaj Nagar police station for his remarks on the Brahmin community on social media. The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Anil Chaturvedi, a Barkat Nagar resident, on Saturday night.

Kashyap's film 'Phule' is based on the life of social reformer couple Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule. It was set to be released this month, but had courted controversy over its portrayal of caste.

Kashyap had questioned the row surrounding the film. While replying to a social media user, the director made the contentious remark against the Brahmin community.

After being widely trolled for the comment, Kashyap apologised on Saturday.

In an Instagram post, he wrote, "This is my apology, not for my post but for that one line taken out of context and the brewing hatred. No action or speech is worth your daughter, family, friends and colleagues getting rape and death threats from the kingpins of sanskar."

"I won't take back what I said. Abuse me all you want. My family didn't say anything. If you want an apology, here it is," he had added.
