Almost all states/UTs that published their electoral rolls on Tuesday have recorded a 7%-8% reduction/exclusion from the pre-SIR electoral rolls of about 35.7 crore electors.
Nearly 58 lakh elector names have been shaved off the draft electoral rolls of poll-bound West Bengal, 41.7 lakh elector from Rajasthan's draft electoral roll while near one lakh in Goa and just over a lakh in election-bound Puducherry, EC's data shows.
This is the first set of states/UTs undergoing SIR phase-2 to publish draft rolls. Seven other SIR phase-2 states and UTs will soon follow.
The largest exclusions in the five states/UTs are seen on the account of electors who have shifted/ absent from their constituency and West Bengal leads the tally.
From the original 7.66 crore pre-SIR electors in the state, 7.08 crore electors are on West Bengal's draft roll while 24.16 lakh have been found dead, 32.65 lakh shifted/ absent and 1.38 lakh enrolled at multiple places.
The deletions/ exclusion numbers are lowest in Purba Midnapore at 3.31% while the highest is Kolkata North at 25.9%. Jorasanko, Chowringhee, Howrah Uttar, Kolkata Port, Ballygunge, Shyampukur, Kashipur Belgachia and Beliaghata are among the constituencies with the highest deletions.
In Rajasthan, 5.04 crore electors have made it to the draft roll, excluding 29.6 lakh found shifted/absent, 3.44 lakh enrolled at multiple places and 8.75 lakh deceased.
In Goa, 10.84 lakh electors from the original base of 11.85 lakh have figured in the draft roll- 25,574 were found deceased, 1,997 enrolled at multiple places and 72.421 were found shifted/absent.
Puducherry has counted 9.18 lakh electors in its draft roll while 20,798 were assessed dead, 80,645 were shifted/absent and 2024 were enrolled in multiple places.
Lakshadweep has recorded 56,384 electors in its draft roll with just over 2% exclusions on account of deaths/shifting/multiple enrolment.
The Election Commission said 'genuine electors' can still be added back to the final electoral rolls following the Claims and Objections period between 16.12.2025 and 15.01.2025.
In case deficiencies are found in case of some elector details, as mentioned in Enumeration Forms, notices will be issued and hearings/verification conducted between December 16 and February 7, 2026. The final roll in these states/UTs will be published on February 14, 2026.
