Pee-gate: Air India passenger Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on flight, fired from his job

In a statement released on Friday, Mishra's employer - Wells Fargo - said that “This individual has been terminated from Wells Fargo. We are cooperating with law enforcement and ask that any additional inquiries be directed to them."

With the Delhi Police on the lookout for the Shankar Mishra - the Air India passenger who has been accused of urinating on an elderly woman in a New York to Delhi flight - reports say that he has been fired by his employer.

In a statement released on Friday, Mishra's employer - Wells Fargo - said that “This individual has been terminated from Wells Fargo. We are cooperating with law enforcement and ask that any additional inquiries be directed to them."

Multiple teams of the Delhi Police have been searching for him, with raids conducted in Maharashtra and Bengaluru.


"The police teams have gone to his home in Mumbai but he was not there. They have got clues and are trying to trace him," say police sources.

Mishra has been booked under Sections 510 (misconduct in public by a drunken person), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 294 (sings, recites or utters any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place), 354 (intending to outrage modesty) of the Indian Penal Code as well as a section of the Aircraft Rules Act in a case registered at IGI airport police station.

"Wells Fargo holds employees to the highest standards of professional and personal behavior and we find these allegations deeply disturbing," the statement added.

Meanwhile, the airline itself has banned Mishra for 30 days.

"As a first step, Air India has banned the passenger for 30 days, the maximum it is permitted to unilaterally do so, and reported the matter to the DGCA for further action," a statement from the Tata-owned airline said.
