Peace must for normal ties, India tells China

This was the first such bilateral meeting between the two ministers. The meeting was largely focused on peace and tranquility in border areas.

New Delhi: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Thursday held bilateral talks with visiting Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang. Gang was told that ties won't be normal unless peace and tranquility was established along the Line of Actual Control.

This was the first such bilateral meeting between the two ministers. The meeting was largely focused on peace and tranquility in border areas.

"I told the visiting minister that ties are currently abnormal, and peace and tranquility is a must for any normalisation in relations," Jaishankar told media persons.
