Pawan Kalyan on Friday expressed his dismay over the gang-rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl by her 12 and 13-year-old schoolmates in Andhra Pradesh.

"It was a deep shock for me, reading about it. Even the perpetrators are minor. That is quite disturbing for me," the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh said.

The incident unfolded in Muchumarri village, Nandyal district, where the girl's father reported her absence after she didn't come back from playing at the park on Sunday.

With the assistance of a sniffer dog, the Nandikotkur police traced the accused boys. They admitted to raping and murdering the girl before disposing of her body in an irrigation canal.

Pawan Kalyan, addressing the issue of the accused, emphasised that the problem goes beyond physical education, noting that young minds are being corrupted and spoiled due to various factors.

"It will be dealt with severe punishment at the school level, I think that culture has to be conveyed to them," he said.

The police are now intensifying their search for the girl's body, which may have been washed away due to monsoon rains. Nandyal MLA G Jayasurya has assured the victim's family of strict action against the perpetrators.
