Amid cold wave conditions, the local administration has ordered all schools in Patna till class 8 to remain closed till January 20. Earlier, the district administration in four districts, including Patna, had ordered the closure of all government and private schools for students up to Class VIII until January 20 due to the cold wave sweeping the state. IMD has predicted severe cold condition and dense fog for new next few days in Northern India including Bihar.

The mercury has dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in several districts. Timings for higher classes have also been rescheduled.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gaya recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 4.9 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts that minimum temperatures will remain between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius over the next few days in various parts of the state, including Patna.



Banka recorded a temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Motihari at 6.8 degrees Celsius, Sabour in Bhagalpur at 7 degrees Celsius, Dehri at 7.2 degrees Celsius, and Kaimur at 7.6 degrees Celsius. Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius.

In Patna, all government and private schools up to Class VIII, including pre-schools and anganwadi centers, will remain closed until January 20.The order has been forwarded to various officials.

A similar order was issued by East Champaran district magistrate Saurabh Jorwal, who instructed the closure of all government and private schools up to Class XII and Aanganbadi centers until January 16.

Classes IX to XII will be held from 11 am to 3 pm instead of 9 am to 5 pm. This decision was made considering the potential impact of the weather on children's health.

Special classes for upcoming board exams are excluded from this decision. Principals, teachers, and non-teaching employees of government schools are required to be present from 9 am to 5 pm as usual.
