As per reports, Harsh Kumar, son of Vaishali-based journalist Ajit Kumar, was pursuing BA English (Hons) and was actively involved in political activities. He was recently seen supporting Shambhavi Choudhary, the LJP (RV) nominee from the Samastipur LS seat, who is also the daughter of Ashok Choudhary, a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet.
The motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear. However, police disclosed that Harsh had been engaged in a dispute with some Patna University students over the organization of a 'dandiya night' event during Dussehra last year.
The fatal assault occurred around 12:45 pm when the assailants cornered Harsh in the college parking area and launched a ferocious attack using rods and bricks. Despite the presence of bystanders, no one intervened. Harsh was rushed to Patna MCH, where medical professionals pronounced him dead on arrival.
City SP (East) Bharat Soni conveyed that authorities are yet to establish the motive behind the murder and identify the perpetrators. Meanwhile, Patna Law College Principal Mohd Sharif refrained from providing any insights into the incident, stating, "I do not know anything."
Harsh's family members revealed that he was actively involved in politics and aspired to contest the student union elections.
