In preparation for the 18th Lok Sabha, landscaping of the Parliament complex is underway, and a paperless registration mechanism for newly elected Members of Parliament has been established.

As part of the Central Vista project, the entire parliament building is being renovated to make it a more connected complex. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is overseeing this work.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has prepared registration provisions for new members in the Parliament House Annexe. The registration process for newly elected MPs will be paperless.

Arrangements for the transit accommodation of newly elected MPs have been established in the Western Court and state Bhavans. Those who have been re-elected can remain in their current accommodations.

Officials also stated that this time, residences will be allotted to newly elected MPs using an automated mechanism rather than manually.

Liaison officers have been instructed to contact members, particularly the newly elected, to inform them to bring the needed set of documentation.

The Lok Sabha secretariat has assigned a team the responsibility of monitoring the Election Commission website on June 4 when the votes are tallied and entering the contact information of winning candidates in near real time.

As many as 70 personnel have been trained to man the registration counter in shifts.

The intent is to minimise the registration time for MPs while they are in the Parliament complex for the purpose of registration, the secretariat said.

From June 4 to June 9, guideposts will be put up at all three domestic terminals at IGI airport, as well as railway stations in Delhi, New Delhi, Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar to welcome elected members.
