Dilip Mistry, who has leased land in the Jaruapur area for diamond excavation, made the find on Saturday and promptly deposited the precious stone with the Panna Diamond Office.
This latest discovery follows Mistry's earlier find of a 16.10-carat diamond in August.
Anupam Singh, an official at the diamond office, confirmed that both diamonds would be put up for auction together. The office, which currently holds a collection of 79 diamonds totaling around 228 carats, is estimated to have a value of approximately Rs 3.53 crore.
Mistry, who began diamond mining with his associates during the COVID-19 lockdown, expressed his joy at the discovery, calling the experience "indescribable." He shared his plans for the earnings from these diamonds.
"The money earned from these diamonds will be used for the expansion of the mine, the future of our children, and farming," he said.
The 7.44-carat diamond, while of average quality, adds to a growing list of valuable finds in the region.
According to Mistry, the group of miners, who collectively invested in the venture, have now deposited a total of seven or eight diamonds with the Panna Diamond Office.
In another significant discovery, a laborer in the area had found a 19.22-carat diamond earlier in July, further highlighting Panna’s reputation as a key hub for diamond mining in India.
Panna is a hotspot for gem hunters, offering hope for many in the region looking to strike it rich.
