Pan Naga hoho does not undermine any democratic political institution, says NSCN-IM

Pan Naga hoho which is negotiated by the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) and government of India is according to NSCN-IM does not undermine any democratic political institution as perceived by other.

The proposed Pan Naga Hoho is a cultural and social body to bring under one umbrella Nagas of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

Integration of Naga inhabited areas across Northeast India is one of the core demand of NSCN-IM. Northeastern states have reservation to the outfits demand of integration of naga inhibited areas of their states.


NSCN-IM in a statement on Thursday stated,
"Of late, media is floated with cross section of people and groups fussing about the power of Chairman of Pan Naga Hoho (PNH). The irony is that Pan Naga Hoho is a topic that does not warrant wild speculation. Because, it is still in incubation stage and one need not go for panic reaction. Such subject of critical importance that concerns the Nagas is something that wouldn’t be processed in damning hurry. When the Pan Naga Hoho, as conceived by Government On India.and mutually discussed and accepted by NSCN taking into consideration the necessity to have such umbrella set up for the larger unity and welfares of the Nagas living in different regions passed through the critical stage of political scrutiny it would naturally come out in
the open".

NSCN-IM said, "However, PNH does not undermine any democratic political institution as perceived by others. Such widely diffused view is unfounded.
The irony of the situation is apparent to everyone. Things are moving too slow. However, the Pan Naga Hoho when concretized will take into account the social, cultural, literature, identity and interests of the Nagas. Till then the less fuss made about it the better."

There are differences on separate flags and the Constitution. The 25-year-old long peace talks are caught in stalemate.

Recently Government of India’s representative for Naga political talks, AK Mishra held talks with Naga political groups.

There was a deadlock as NSCN-IM had refused to sit in talks with then interlocutor and Nagaland governor RN Ravi. Ravi later moved in as Governor of Tamil Nadu.

There is a stalemate between the government of India and NSCN-IM over the contentious issue of separate flag and constitution. NSCN-IM has been demanding a separate flag and Constitution which the government of India had rejected.
