They said the joint search operation continued in Ashdar Gali, also known as Ashtar Gali, in the upper reaches of Budgam for the second infiltrator, Musa, who was reportedly hiding in natural caves around the encounter site-located between 12,000 and 15,500 feet in the Pir Panjal range.
Officials said Yasir had been on the radar of the security forces since 2024 and was involved in at least three major incidents that year, including an ambush of an air force convoy in Poonch district, an attack on construction workers near Sonamarg and an attack on the army in Bota Pathri in Gulmarg area.
An air force member was killed and four others injured when infiltrators ambushed a convoy of the force in J&K's Poonch district. The attack took place near Shahsitar in the Surankote area on May 4, 2024, when the troops were returning to their base at Sanai Top.
