New Delhi: Commission for Air Quality Management on Monday said that the year 2025 has seen the 'most significant decline' in farm fires. From 78,850 in 2021, the number came down to 39,186 in 2023 and 6,080 in 2025, CAQM said. Punjab has recorded 53% reduction in farm fires over 2024, 86% over 2023, 90% over 2022 and 93% over 2021. Haryana has also posted a 53% reduction over 2024 figures.

These numbers representthe most significant declinesince CAQM began monitoring state-specific crop residue management measuresas per its action plans, theauthority said.
