Over 1,200 gifts received by PM Narendra Modi to be auctioned, proceeds to go for Namami Ganga project

Over 1200 items gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from people from all walks of life are set to go under the hammer from September 17. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Namami Gange Mission.

Director General of National Gallery of Modern Art, Adwaita Gadanayak, said that the auction will be conducted through web portal pmmementos.gov.in, and it conclude on October 2.

He said a wide range of gifts representing India's rich culture and heritage will be auctioned. The base price of the gifts ranges from Rs 100 to Rs 10 lakh.


The items includes a Rani Kamlapati statue gifted by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a Hanuman idol and a sun painting gifted by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and a wall hanging of Lord Venkateshwara gifted by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The list of gifts also includes a trishul gifted by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and a Goddess Mahalaxmi statue gifted by NCP leader Ajit Pawar

This is the fourth edition of the e-auction of PM Modi's gifts.

The National Gallery of Modern Art's Director Temsunaro Jamir said there the list of gifts also includes T-shirts, boxing gloves, javelin and racquets signed by sportspersons.

Exquisite paintings, sculptures, handicrafts and folk artefacts would also be available for auction.

The items customarily offered as gifts, such as shawls, traditional angavastras, ceremonial swords, head gears and so on, she said.

Replicas and models of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and the Kashi-Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi are also up for auction, she added.
