Outrage erupts in Rajasthan over bureaucrat's death due to alleged medical negligence

In an alleged case of medical negligence, 33-year-old Rajasthan Administrative Service officer Priyanka Bishnoi lost her life on Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad.

The family has accused a private hospital of negligence, claiming it led to her death due to an alleged botched surgery.

Priyanka passed away at CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, two weeks after undergoing a stomach surgery at Vasundhara Hospital in Jodhpur. The family stated that Priyanka's condition deteriorated soon after the surgery, and she was unable to recover.


"We lost her due to the carelessness of doctors at Vasundhara Hospital," her father-in-law, Sahiram Bishnoi, told ETV Bharat, demanding strict action against the responsible doctors.

Meanwhile, Bishnoi community leader Devendra Budia has alleged a conspiracy behind Priyanka's death and called for a CBI investigation.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences over Bishnoi's death. “The demise of Rajasthan Administrative Service officer Priyanka Bishnoi ji is extremely sad. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant a place to the departed soul at his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this grief,” he stated in a message posted on X.



Many people, especially from the Bishnoi community, have shared their views on Priyanka’s death, condemning the medical negligence while also praising her for her stellar work. In response, Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Agrawal has ordered an inquiry and formed a five-member team to conduct the investigation.

Bishnoi was posted as Assistant Collector in Jodhpur. She had been transferred to the position of Deputy Commissioner with Jodhpur North Municipal Corporation earlier this month but had not yet taken charge.
