The Maharashtra assembly was adjourned several times on Monday after the opposition demanded the resignation of agriculture minister Abdul Sattar after the latter approved a 'regularisation order' to allot a private person grazing land in violation of the rules which was earlier set aside by the Bombay High Court. Sattar, who was the minister of state for revenue in the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government, had passed an order in June 2022, in which 37 acres of 'grazing land' was given to a private person although government rules prohibit grazing land to be given to any private person. On December 22, the Bombay High Court passed an interim stay on Sattar's order and issued a notice to Sattar as the latter as the then Revenue Minister passed an order in favour of a private person despite the fact that a civil court had earlier rejected his claim on the land.
