The success of Operation Sindoor is at the centre of this year’s Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, with artworks dedicated to the military action on display. Launched 100 days ago, the operation by the Indian armed forces targeted multiple terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Theme of ‘Naya Bharat’

The official Independence Day invitations carry the Operation Sindoor logo and a silhouetted image of the Chenab bridge, depicting the rise of ‘Naya Bharat’. The e-invitation also lists the fundamental duties of citizens.
“As the nation is making giant strides towards realising the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, the theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Naya Bharat’. The celebrations will serve as a platform to commemorate the continuing rise of a prosperous, secure and bold ‘Naya Bharat’ and provide renewed power to surge further ahead on the path to progress,” the defence ministry said.

Symbolism at the venue

The Red Fort complex has been decorated with vibrant artworks and posters. View cutters installed at Gyanpath feature the Operation Sindoor logo and silhouettes of armed forces personnel. The government has highlighted the significance of the May 7 precision strikes, which destroyed nine terror camps.

Design of the logo

The Operation Sindoor poster features its name with the first ‘O’ shaped like a vermilion bowl and the second ‘O’ carrying a dash of the powder. The bilingual invitations include this logo and the Chenab bridge image. The design was created by Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Havildar Surinder Singh.

Chenab bridge as a symbol of progress

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June, the Chenab bridge is the world’s tallest railway arch bridge. Modi had said the bridge stands as a “testament to India’s ambition” and surpasses the Eiffel Tower in height.

Participation in celebrations

Around 2,500 NCC cadets and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers will take part, seated on Gyanpath to form the ‘Naya Bharat’ logo. After the main event, military and paramilitary music bands will perform at over 140 locations to “celebrate the victory of Operation Sindoor,” according to the defence ministry.

Special guests

Nearly 5,000 guests from across the country, including the Indian contingent of Special Olympics 2025, Khelo India Para Games gold medallists, top-performing farmers, quiz-winning schoolchildren, and ‘swachhta’ workers, have been invited to witness the celebrations.
