Omicron: Karnataka reports dozen new cases, count rises to 31
Karnataka on Thursday reported dozen new cases of Omicron taking the overall count of persons infected with the new Covid-19 variant to 31.

New Omicron cases have emerged after a gap of 48-hours as the government did not report any cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Three of them are from a single family of a UK-returnee in Bengaluru. In all, five of them are UK returnees, and one each from Denmark, Nigeria, Switzerland, and Ghana. The oldest is a 59-year old woman, while the youngest is a nine-year old girl. Nine are from Bengaluru, while one each is from Mangaluru and Mysuru. One is a Keralite who arrived in Bengaluru.
The state reported 299 new cases and two deaths. Bengaluru accounted for 210 new cases. The health authorities conducted 1.27 lakh tests on Thursday as part of the government's efforts to detect the infection early and isolate the infected persons.
