Old Naravane video resurfaces as Rahul Gandhi cites his unpublished memoir in Lok Sabha
An old video statement by former Indian Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane has resurfaced after a heated debate in Parliament over the India–China border standoff.During the Motion of Thanks debate, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi cited excerpts from what he described as Naravane’s unpublished memoir, claiming it referred to Chinese military movements in 2020. His remarks triggered strong objections from treasury benches and repeated disruptions in the Lok Sabha. The renewed focus has brought back Naravane’s 2021 public remarks, in which he said India had not lost any territory during the standoff. That disengagement was based on mutual and equal security to stabilise the Line of Actual Control. The government maintains that disengagement restored pre-standoff positions. Opposition leaders continue to seek clarification. There has been no official change to India’s stated military position.
