Come January 1, the need to carry a physical copy of DL or RC will go away and people can show print out of DL and RC to traffic police.
Odisha will stop issuing physical driving licences and RCs for vehicles from January 1 next year.

“Under the 5T (transparency, technology, teamwork, timeframe and transformation) mandates of the state government, we will dispense with the issuance of smart card DL and paper RC from January 1. This will ensure better service delivery to the public and eliminate delays in getting DL and RC via post," state transport and commerce secretary said.

A dedicated web poratl will be established to help people download these documents.


Come January 1, the need to carry a physical copy of DL or RC will go away and people can show print out of DL and RC to traffic police.

Since the advent of e-challan, the chip-based DL is no longer required.

Those who don't have access to internet can visit nearest Jana Seva Kendras to get a copy of digital DL and RC.
