The series of incidents began when a young man in Dausa engaged the services of matchmakers. After their marriage on June 14, the bride, Nisha, vanished within a week, citing a family visit. However, she never returned and would also convince the grooms to part with their money. Upon growing suspicious, the grooms approached the police, triggering an investigation that unraveled the extent of Nisha's deceitful activities, as reported by NBT.
Despite holding a nursing degree under the name Sonia, Nisha chose a different path, engaging in fraudulent activities. Alongside Nisha, the police apprehended her accomplices, Sangita and Anita. This elaborate network of scammers includes matchmakers and marriage agencies.
Nisha, dubbed the "looteri dulhan" (looting bride), exhibited a clear pattern in her exploits. In May, she targeted a groom in Bhilwara; in June, she shifted her operations to Dausa; and in July, she executed another scam in Panipat before disappearing once more.
The ongoing investigation involves questioning Nisha and her associates, alongside scrutinizing other potential accomplices. As the details unfold, it emerges that the bride, leveraging her nursing background and manipulative skills, transitioned from medical studies to orchestrating fraudulent marriages, leaving unsuspecting grooms in financial distress.
